't Schrijverke

The Little Scribbler (eng), Le Petit Gribouilleur (Fr)

'Tiny horses jaunting through the water surface, being followed by gazeful eyes. Who is watching, who is catching?'

 The Little Scribbler

O Wrinkling tinkling creature of water

With Little black boots about to totter

How I love to see your head so fine

Scribbling on the thin water line

You live and you spin and you run so quick

Though I see no legs nor arms which like to trick

You stroll and parade, you know you’ve almost won

Though I see no eyes not one

What were or what will you become

Declare and tell me, it’s to you I hum

What are you little knot so small

Who is never tired of the scribbling at all

You walk over the shimmering water clear

The water so silent as if it’s filled with fear µ

When a tiny little breeze appears

Which silently the water clears
